One Pinned on I-95

April 21, 2005

At approximately 0115 hours Rescue Squad 15 was dispatched to I-95 for a Personal Injury Collision. As Squad 15 was responding they were told by the first arriving engine (E-412) that they had one person pinned in a single vehicle accident. Squad 15 arrived on the scene and quickly got to work. The vehicle was stabilized, and soon after the hydraulic tools were put to use. The driver's side door was the first to come off, with the combined use of the the spreaders and O-cutters. After the door was removed, the windshield and back window were carefully removed to allow the roof to be cut off. With the driver's side door, all the glass, and the roof removed, a modified dash roll was needed to free the patients legs in the damaged front end. The 40" rams were used after the relief cuts were made to push the dash and safely free the patient. Patient care was then transferred to the crew of Medic 159
